Month: February 2008

arm rests

The car, it has none. Not that big a deal i guess, but still.

And the CD player is really starting to piss me off.
It plays fine for about half the CD, then gets all skippy!
Could be due to the fact that they’re burned CDs.
I’ll try a real one and see what happens.

Hmmm…maybe this is a way to justify buying a portable MP3 player…I’ll have to consider that….;)

Cloverfield

Finally saw it.
It’s short.
IMDB clocks it at 85 minutes, but a good 10 of that is credits.
And there’s something after the credits, just not sure what.

Overall, I liked it. Street view of a Godzilla film, although it’s not Godzilla, it might as well have been.

The handy/shaky cam thing wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and added something to the feel.

Not sure it needed to be seen on the big screen, but that’s where I was 🙂

And now, sleep.

Grump

Does anyone remember when they used to play music on the radio?

I really have to get that MP3 player installed.

With the new car, I have these performance type tires. Not so helpful in the snow.
I was slipping and sliding everywhere this morning.
I’d get winter tires, but that’s $900 I just don’t have 😦

Stuff

Had various levels of win today.

1. Finally got the PS2 to go over the wireless network and play something from the windows machine.
This seems to be a little finicky sometimes, but it’s better than not working at all.

2. I can now control Winamp remotely. As long as I don’t load the media library. That’ll crash the remote control part.
Now I can listen to my music at work using Shoutcast and this Winamp RC thing. Cool Beans.

3. Downloaded and played AudioSurf. Neat game based on music. The cool part is that it’s based on your music.
Premise is pretty simple, kinda like connect 4, but with three. And not necessarily in a line.
But the collection dots and the spread of them depends on the music you choose from your own collection.
That’s cool.

Phoo Action & Rewind

Downloaded this the other day and finally got around to watching it today.
At first, I didn’t think much of it.
It’s not easy to make a comic into a live action TV Show, and especially when the BBC is involved.
It just feels…weird.

But then again, with the subject matter, weird is the least of your worries.
I hadn’t read the comic it’s based on(Get The Freebies), but for some reason it just grabbed my attention. Free things do that 🙂

Anyway, it did start to grow on me. Not sure what did it. Possibly the Buddah’s Loin Cloth…which are actually hot pants, and can store and create whatever you want by pulling out of and putting things in it.
It’s…weird.

So if you can download it, and wait for about 30 minutes, then I think it’s worth the watch.

Also watched Be Kind Rewind with the gang in the afternoon.
It was actually better than I thought it would be. It wasn’t just about making fan movies, there was a little more too it than that. Not much more, but a little more.
It’s more of a rental really. But fun.

The Day After

For the most part, this was a typical Saturday.
The feelings of the dent are pretty much gone as there’s just nothing I can do about it but laugh.

Tara and I bopped around town buying house things.
I think I like this buying house things…uh…thing.
I like Linen’s n Things.
I really do.
I think it’s neat.
So that’s where we went, and didn’t have a whole lot of luck.
They had these bathroom cabinet things on sale, but when we got there, they were sold out of all but one.
But they had a million pillows, so we bought them(2 for 1!).
I think we’re good on the pillow count now(considering there are 7 on the bed, and I use one).
I even got myself one of those foam wavy pillows to help with snoring…we’ll see.

We did dinner, then popped into the SuperStore that night as they were having a tax off thing.
So we picked up bedside tables and some other table kinda things.
The bedside tables are awesome, because they actually are higher than the bed, and I don’t have to hang off the side anymore to see what time it is.
Very nice.

Other than that…uhh…same old same old.

I dunno

I so wanted this to be a really cool day.
And up to a point, it really really was.

Work was nothing special, but there was the anticipation about the new car.

Tara arrived at around 1:30 so we got to hang out while I waited for the car to be ready.
And finally, it was!

So we zoomed down to the dealer, I did all my papery work, and floored out of there.

It was awesome!
The car is great, and I’ll have pics tomorrow.

Then we headed down Merival to find a store, and headed down a mostly narrow road.
I moved over as far as I could, and so did he.
But it just wasn’t far enough.
BANG!
I think I had skipped off some of the ice and banged into the guy.

10 minutes. That’s how long I had the car before I got into an accident. It has to be a record.

I was pissed. But really, I’m sure you would have been as well.
Anyone would have been.

But it wasn’t his fault, it wasn’t mine. It was an accident.
I suppose one of us could have yielded, but neither did.

Getting out of the car, I noticed a very small ding on the side panel.
But that’s it.
Nothing else.
Not even a paint scratch.

The noise really came from his car.

Oh yea, forgot to mention, I hit a VW Jetta TDI. What are the odds 😉

Anyway, his hub cap smashed, and that made most of the noise.

He was a nice old guy that I think works for, or owns, a garage. He can get the hub caps at cost.
There was some more damage to his turn signal and the front bumper looks like it has to be pushed back, but that’s it.
Not even paint damage on his car.

It could have been a lot worse. A LOT worse.

However, that did put me into a grumpy mood for the rest of the afternoon.
Poor Tara, having to put up with a grumpy me.
But she stood by me, trying her best to cheer me up.
And finally, it worked.

I’m better now.

Bitter at the world, sure, but that’s nothing new 🙂

Tank

I’ll miss the old tank.
It was the first car I ever owned, so it means a lot to me.
We’ve been through a lot:
all the way West
down to CA
out East twice
down to Florida

If you think about it, at 181,000km travelled, I’ve gone around the world 4.5 times.
That’s a lot of driving.

Sure, it’s given me hassle from time to time, and i’m sure I’ve given it enough grief, but for the most part, it was a good car.

i just paid far too much for it in the long run.

Oh well.

On to new things!
