Updates!

I started this post yesterday, at home, and forgot to post. So since I’m waiting for servers to start, let’s try again ^_^

Tara and I had our first ballroom dance lesson on Wednesday. Actually, it was number 2, but we missed the first one(tactical error on my part).
I think we did rather well.
Within the first few minutes we learned the waltz and the rest of the night was foxtrot.
Cool stuff really, and since it was our first kick at the can, I think we did rather well.
Have to download some good dancing music so that we can practice. 🙂

Rejoice!
I’m on twitter!

woo?

Tara and I are trying to be more active. We both have desk jobs and it’s starting to show, well, show more I guess.
I’ve never been a small guy, but I think I’ve reached my breaking point here and I really want to loose some of the extra that’s on me.
I’ve started taking the dog for long walks at lunch, and Tara and I are trying to go for walks at night too.
That, and she has a bike and I should have one coming, so we can start doing that now.

Tara seems to be adjusting to the new schedule at work. It’s a little later in the morning which is both easier and harder to deal with.
Easier because it’s later and she can sleep a little more. Harder because she’s more awake in the morning and just doesn’t want to get up 🙂

Other than that it’s life as usual.

How are you doing?

Dear Virgin Mobile

Please stop trying to be hip.
We get it.
You’re new, you’re cool. But stop.

Especially in the emails…

Hey Bill,
Thanks for taking the time to write in.

blah blah blah(mine, not his)

Lots of Love,
Darryll

(bold mine, not his)
Lots of Love?
Really, Darryll, have you ever met me?

Just…stop.

hacky cell phone

So I picked myself up a Nokia 6275i and I’ll be switching phone provides to PC mobile.
It’s all run by Bell anyway, so I know the coverage is good.
For about $23/month, I’ll have 75 minutes talk, unlimited web browsing, and 30 text messages.
Mind you, with the browsing, the text might not really be needed.

Anyway, being Nokia, they’re all hackable and the like. You just need the right software, and I have that.
Also, the data cable should be coming in today, so I can get started with it 🙂

Apparently there’s an internal GPS on the phone, just not sure how accurate it might be. But with Google Maps Mobile, it could be really cool 🙂
I’ve never had a phone with real apps made for it, this could be the most fun with a phone that I’ve ever had!

I think I need help…

On the importance of keeping the instructions

Tara has been sick for the past few days. She was like this in January, and for whatever reason it’s come back.
It’s not a good sick, but I suppose what is?
Anyway, because her mother was sick like this when she was pregnant, Tara tested herself.
She came into the room, very worried, and holding the test.
The test had two lines on it.
Not really sure, I thought it might be a false positive, so pack Qanuk into the car and off to Shoppers we go.
While there, I notice that the one she showed me looked just like the Life brand test, and on that it said that two lines meant negative.
A line and a plus was positive.
I pick up a different brand anyway, we(she) tests again, and negative.

So, unless you do it all the time, don’t throw out the box with the cryptic signs on it.

Lesson learned.

Dear eMusic

Please change your Contact Us form.

Having to put in my name, fine.
My email address, no problem.
Phone number optional, sure.
Last eight digits of my credit card? As a mandatory field?
Uh, no, not gonna happen.

Oh, and when you send out an email newsletter with an email address in it, the one you want us to use to ask questions, please make sure that address is active before sending the letter.
That’s just dumb.

Thanks

BloodBowl

Wandered into a Games Workshop store while Tara was off doing girl shopping(this way I don’t follow her around like a sad puppy) and wondered if they had any Blood Bowl stuff.
For whatever reason I had a hankering.
To my complete and utter non-surprise, they didn’t.
What I didn’t know though was that all the rules were available, legally like, online.
And, AND, they’re still being updated.
Kewl!

Now just to find a Bloodbowl game.
They’re apparently still available from GW for about $85CDN.
Considering what you get, that’s not too bad.

But wait!
There’s this cool java app that let’s you do all that for free!
It takes care of all the fiddly things, like rolls and rules, and just let’s you play BB against…whomever.
You can host a game, join a game, WATCH a game(coolio) or play with yourself.
It appears nice and customizable, and the teams are all in html, so it’s easy to edit.
Also, it saves the results of the match, which is cool.

It’s so cool and easy, I’m thinking of starting a mini-league.
Anyone interested?

I guess the idea here is that, if I have enough people, I can set up a mini-tournament, and those involved can all decide amongst themselves when a good time to play is.
I might even make a site for this 🙂
Woo! Another time killing project!

Anyway, if you want to get started, you can download all the docs from:
http://fullerits.com/BB/
The java app is there as well.
The official site for the docs is:
http://www.specialist-games.com/bloodbowl/rulebook.asp

Any takers?

Kaiju Baby!

Excerpt from my nephews daycare journal:

“Up till now Simon was watching from the sidelines, sucking his thumb but today he actually followed them, grabbed toys and stood of sat in the middle of them and played with the same things. Mind you he was a bit of a Godzilla, tipping the little people garage over and stepping on cars.”
