Diamond and Comics

I realise that no one that can affect change is going to read this, but I’ll post anyway.

Some time ago I found a comic shop in Kanata and all was good. The place was large but not well stocked.
That’s just the way it is.
Anyway, that couldn’t last and he had to shut down and move to a home based business.
This was pretty cool too because I would just pop over to his place, hang for a bit, and then run away. It was nice and personable. He’s been doing this for about two years.

Now he wants to shut down totally as his wife is having twins and he just knows he doesn’t have the time. However, he sold the business to someone else that also wanted it to be a home business.
Works for me.

However, I just got news today that the other guy got rejected from Diamond Comic Distributors, which basically supplies all comic shops in NA with comics and stuff.
The reason?
They don’t support a home based business model.
Wha?
So what has dude been doing for the last 2+ years?
And I suppose the comic guy complained, because they just dropped his license too!
Bastards!

Diamond does seem to support a web based business model, which I presume one would run from their home. So it’s like a home based model +1.

It just seems unfair to me that Diamond should take this stance.
I mean, sure, he’s not making a killing. But so what?
Is Diamond still making money? Yes. And in theory, a little more than the large shops(in a way).
It seems to me like a silly thing to drop a license for.

Anyway, I don’t like what they’ve done, but when you’re the only game in town, you can make all the dumbass rules you want.
Double dumbass on them!

Could this be the end of my comic experience?
Dunno really.
One advantage was home delivery, but that’s gone now.
Dunno, have to think about this.
