Having a hard time getting going this morning, so I’ll continue this post that I started on Friday…

I suppose this is the post where I lay out my goals(not resolutions) for 2009 and then promptly forget about them in a month.

This time around I think I’ll try the S.M.A.R.T method which I gleamed from Goal Setting Guide.
Here’s how it breaks down:

S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Attainable
R = Realistic
T = Timely

So I just won’t say I’ll loose weight, but loose 40 lbs by the end of the year by following my doctors diet suggestions and exercising more. I suppose I can say “exercising more” either, but say exercise by walking the dog daily, badminton at least once a week, lifting weights twice a week and biking with Tara(in the basement) twice a week.

And so on.

So, here’s what I have in store for myself this year, and no, it’s not a full list(yet) and it’s not fully fleshed out:
1. Be more organized.
-This is geared towards work but also in my own life. The plan is to log everything that I do(work wise) and carry around paper and pens in my own life. Right now I have a blog setup where I’ll try to organize work life and keep track of tasks. I know I can do that in Lotus Notes, but it sucks and blogging is still fun. I decided to go the Hipster PDA route for my personal life with some extra templates to keep it fun and interesting. The advantage of the hipster is that I can put it in my back pocket and it doesn’t run out of power. Don’t know how I’m going to measure the end goal on either of these though.
2. Read more.
-I think what I’ll do here is get a list of books that I want to read and tell myself that I’ll read them by the end of the year. Audio books don’t count but are nice when podcasts are sparse.
3. Loose weight and exercise more.
-This is covered above.
4. Stay in touch with friends more.
-This is mostly for the ones that live far away from me, but even those close I would like to see more often. Again, not really sure how I’m going to do this or how I can tell if I’ve succeeded, but there you go.

Think that’s it for now. For my next trick I’ll post the highlights of 2008….
