Month: April 2010

They’re cool.

Really really cool. The tech puts this thing, that looks like an old printer connecter, on Tara’s stomach, and I watch the screen.

The screen reflects what looks like a time warp, or the Dr Who opening. Then:

Baby? No, blob.

Candy overload

Tara and I are doing a candy bar for the wedding. This means that we have to run out and buy a poop load of candy. And you know, that’s a lot of fun!
So yesterday we wandered out into the world in search of good, yet not stupidly priced, candy.

Our first mistake was Sugar Mountain. You would think that a store, in fact a chain of stores, that does nothing but sell candy, would be a little cheaper. It’s not. All their bulk stuff is 2 cents a gram. Which isn’t *that* bad, I guess. With that, we nabbed a ton of these chocolate mint ball things. Then we saw these little candy sticks, going for 49 cents each. Not bad really. We looked around and found that they were also in these larger tub things, so we grabbed the tubs, grabbed some bags, and went to the cash. We told her that we were going to get $20 of each flavor and that they were 49 cents. She looked around for the code to punch this in, and told us that they’re not 49 cents, they’re $1.49 each.

Huh? Wha?

I pointed to the little card on the tub, where it shows 49 cents. I then pointed to the other card on the other tub that also stated 49 cents. She looked a little baffled and said no, they’re $1.49. Tara and I looked at each other, put the sticks away, and paid for our chocolate.

The next store was called…um…the Candy Store, I think. It was very fru-fru and but had all these nice salt-water taffy things in a ton of colours. Expensive, but nice. We bought nothing.

Then the bulk barn. Where they had wonderful salt-water taffy, sugared ju-jubs, and, cool, those candy sticks. Price? 5 for a $1! Oh, and they were the same brand.

Take that Sugar Mountain! And your stupid prices!

So we walked out with $150 worth of candy. Most of that came from the jelly beans, but they’re *awesome*!

We’ll have to go out and get some more, but that’s another day and another…umm…something….

One Down, Two to Go!

12 weeks ago today, there was a spark and a new life was started.

I’ve been wanting to say this for 6 weeks, and today is the day:
The love of my life is 12 weeks pregnant!

And there was much rejoicing!

Tara was ill one day, and on a whim she took a pregnancy test, and then two more 😉

In all honesty, we were having our doubts that we could conceive without assistance, but it just happened one day. We would like to know what we did right that time 😉

It’s been a long road since that day, and the road isn’t getting any shorter. Tara falls into the high risk category for a number of reasons, so we have to be uber careful and catious. It also means we had to change our honeymoon plans, but you know, that’s all right by me.

I’ve been thinking of what to write, and you know, I’m kinda sucking at it right now. I guess I’ve been writing this post in my head for weeks, but never sure what to say, or that it changes every time. And Tara would like to point out that the first trimester doesn’t end until next week, but I won’t let something like facts get in the way of a good title.

I can’t really put into words the rush of emotion it’s been. I suspect those of you with kids will totally get it, how exciting and terrifying it all is. But I look forward to it, and apparently 5 more *_*

That’s all for now, I don’t want to put everything into a single post, but you can expect more from me as time marches forward.

So I’m gonna be a Dad, and Tara is gonna be a Mom. The dog and cat will remain much the same, but that’s ok.

Easter Monday

As I stand in my kitchen, it’s just a little after 8. The dog is asleep on her bed and the cat is snoozing on the carpet. Tara is still asleep as she has the day off. I’d be asleep too if I had the chance, but I’m working.

I’ve just gone through the 0 new emails since Friday, and now it’s time to make a ton of updates to my tickets. The tea is ready. Coffee makes a lot of noise to make(all the cleaning of filters and whatnot) so it’s tea this morning.

The weekend was pleasant. It was all really quiet. Since nothing was open on Friday we just puttered. Saturday we took a look at Tara’s ring design and it’s actually coming together. Then babysitting for my nephews. Miles just wouldn’t sleep for us, and that’s 2 for 2 now, one day we’ll get him to sleep 🙂

Sunday was dinner and some painting of dressers. We got these nice ones from my Grandma and we just wanted to repaint them.

Today is quiet, and it seems that the nice weather is moving on. It was hot and nice all weekend, and on a weekend, where you could enjoy it.

I suspect the rest of the day will be quiet, but hopefully the rain will hold off. It’s just grey out there.

Anyway, back to work. Enjoy the day if you have it off 🙂
