A Scanner Darkly
Where the hell is it?
In the one ‘art house’ theater that Ottawa has, that’s where.
And where the hell is that? About as far away from useful as you can get without leaving the city!
Now, those that know me, know that I can get really pissed off about the dumbest things, and I have a feeling that this is one of those times, so feel free to ignore this post.
That being said, here we go!
WTF are they thinking?
I’ve been waiting for this movie for over a bloody year, and now they stick it in ONE bloody theatre in Ottawa?
That has ZERO parking!
That is in the middle of downtown!
That, because they are an ‘art house’, will play their movies randomly and for a short period of time!
FUCK YOU WARNER!
FUCK YOU AND THE GOD DAMNED HORSE YOU RODE IN ON!
Everyday, there’s shit being released that goes everywhere, and when, finally, a decent looking film is created and released, you hide it away somewhere where only random people will be aware of it’s very existence.
WTF is wrong with you people!?!
Do you not want this movie to make money?
Are you hiding behind some false ‘artsy’ attitude that it’s a work of art and should only be viewed by those who ‘appreciate art for arts sake’, and not the general populace? Who, god forbid, might enjoy this anyway?
Thanks a fucking lot assholes!
There’s a part of me that hopes this movie tanks, sucking with it all your investment just to teach you a lesson.
But would it? No, it would just prove some kind of point that good movies don’t deserve to be made and you’ll fill the ‘normal’ theaters with crap because it will make money.
Again, thank you so very fucking much.
There, I think I’m done now.
Do I feel better?
Not in the slightest, and now I have to plan when to see this movie, because, in all honesty, I want to see it, and really only have about 4 days in which to do so.
God I hate ‘art houses’…..

… I like art houses… ^^;
That’s kinda what they do with arty movies… roll it out to select theatres first and, if the per-screen numbers are good enough, or it picks up an Oscar, it might get a wider release later. They did the same thing with Princess Mononoke. The upside is it’s not that hard for a small number of people to create a buzz about it.
It looks like I’m not going to get to see it until the 28th. 😛
I wouldn’t mind so much if it wasn’t for the:
0 parking
it opens 30 minutes before the movie starts
cash only
only playing for 4 days
single showing per night(so I get all the way down there, and they’re sold out, I’m SOL)
I don’t even mind the fact that it’s downtown, it’s just everything else that ‘s pissing me off right now.
