As the World turns….

I start this post wondering if I should post this at all.
But I suppose this thing has turned into an online journal of sorts. A rather strange journal, but I suppose it fits the writer.
I got a call from a friend of mine, someone I used to live with and hadn’t heard from for a little while, and she told me that she had broken up with her long-time boyfriend of 1,000,000 years.
I’m having a hard time remembering what my reaction was, I’ve had a little bit of time to think about it. It’s odd, it’s something that I never thought would happen, but honestly, it wasn’t hard to see it coming. It was like a train, a quiet train, but a train none the less.
After that amount of time, it’s just not something that one expects to happen. It happened to my brother, but in my opinion that was the best move for him.
As for her, well, she sounds really happy. I think it’s been a long time coming and now the weight of the world is off her shoulders.
I haven’t talked to him yet, and I really don’t know how to approach the subject. He’s a good friend as well, but I think I’ll just let Ben take care of it. He’s known him longer, knows him better than I do, and has oddly been through this before. I’m sure there will be much beer.
I just wouldn’t know what to say to him. It sounds mean, but I really think he was the only one that didn’t see this coming. I’ve been told that the split was a mutual thing, but that’s coming from the happy one, so it’s hard to take that at face value.
I suppose I could sit here and ponder this till I pass out, but in the end, it’s not my life. Sure, it’s going to be rough for them for a little while, but in the end, I think it was the best decision. From the time I met them it seemed that their lives were heading down different paths. Maybe that’s all 20/20 hindsight, but it just seemed like an odd relationship.I don’t know what to say. I’ve only had the one relationship and that was a high-school thing that lasted a couple of years(probably 18 months too many but whatever) and have been single since. Wow, that sucks.I guess it’s just the end of an era. New and exciting things are around the corner.
And I think they’ll both be alright, after all, the ratio of girls to guys is 5 to 1 at his university ^_^
