Big Boned

Well, no, I’m fat.
And it’s now going to cost me money.

See, I had an investor pop by one day, and we were talking about mortgage insurance and how dumb it really was.
So, she suggested that I get a life insurance policy that’s locked in for 20 years.
Sounded like a good idea, and it was only slightly more expensive than what I was paying anyway, so why not.

The medical people came by and did all the tests, and now they tell me that it’ll cost $100/month unless I drop 30lbs.

And you know, that’s not bad incentive.

Maybe this is the extra push that I need to finally get serious about living better.
Not that I live terribly right now, but it could be a whole lot better.

Maybe this is the path for Me 2.0?

Now if I could only charge people for the upgrade…

    Well, I lost 30 pounds in 4 months, give or take, and it wasn’t *too* horrible. And I’m contemplating doing it again come January to knock of another 20 and get myself into the “acceptable” BMI range.

    I’m not really comfortable prostheletizing, but I’d recommend The Hacker’s Diet if only for his method of tracking progress. It does help to keep you aware of what you’re doing, and it keeps you from getting discouraged from the normal daily fluctuations of things.

    God, there’s nothing I can do to keep this from sounding like an infomercial. Sorry about that. 😛

    Did you actually do the hackers diet or just some form of it?
    I was rather successful with Atkins, although I just dropped that at one point and really shouldn’t have.

    I think I really just need to get my exercise up.

    But techie things to help me keep track are fun ^_^

    Yeah, more or less. The Hacker’s Diet isn’t anything exciting and revolutionary. It’s just calorie counting. I was never organized enough to keep any sort of strict count… I just gave myself a few rules (100ish calorie snacks, no more than a few times a day… 400ish calorie meals… water or diet drinks only…), and mostly stuck to crappy frozen prepared meals because those are easy to keep track of.

    Atkins struck me as needlessly restrictive, really. And the ability to drink as much gravy as I want didn’t make up for that… ^^;

    I also buy his argument that excercise (while very good and recommended, and I have been walking and biking more) isn’t going to lose anyone a lot of weight on its own. If you’re not keeping track of diet, it’s just too easy to eat that extra couple cookies or sandwich that’ll get burned before any stored fat will…

    If you want to come over to my place and use my home gym you are more then welcome. It may actually get my ass of the couch and get back into shape

    Dude, thats a GREAT idea.. and being here in Tampa eating nothing but takeout has not made me any svelter. Let me know what you plan to do to work out.. if you are going to a gym or better yet joining something like martial arts or whatever let me know. I wouldn’t mind goin.

    Yea, I remember the last martial arts thing we tried to join ^_^

    No, I think this time I’m just going to watch what I eat and exercise a lot more.

    But, if I do decide to go out and do something cool like ninja arts I’ll let you know.
