Gmail
I want to start moving away from yahoo mail, and I thought that the next best thing would be Gmail.
But it seems to have a small, yet critical, flaw.
No folders.
Sure, there’s labels, and they can act just like folders, except for one thing, everything is still in my inbox!
I don’t want that.
I want to only see the stuff that’s in my inbox, not all the main in the universe.
I have over 4000 emails, and yes, I like to keep them all. And no, I don’t want to see them all in my bloody inbox!
If there was a way to say, oh, only show mail that has no label, then things would be fine.
But no, there isn’t.
What I have to do is create a filter that tags all incoming mail with another label, sort by that label, then apply new labels to the already labeled emails.
That, is stupid.
If someone can show me something I’ve missed, I’d really appreciate it. But so far, Gmail is the suck.
Edit: After some farting around, I found a solution.
After you label it, you then have to archive it to get it out of your inbox.
Yea, that’s real intuitive.
Gmail needs some serious work if it wants to compete with every other online email system.
If people have to learn things from scratch, they aren’t gonna use it.

The lack of folders thing is intentional. And, some would say, one of GMail’s biggest strengths.
Personally, I kinda like it. ‘Cuz email’s become less and less important to me over time, and all that folder stuff is just fiddly busy-work.
I read some of that.
Let me just clarify my situation.
When I look at my Inbox, I just want to see what’s in the Inbox. So, it would be better(in my mind at least) that if I label something(same idea as a folder) then I shouldn’t see that labeled item in the Inbox.
That’s it, that’s all I want.
Couldn’t care if it’s called labels or folders, and in fact I can see where labels would be better than folders(and therefore a neater idea) it’s just simply that I don’t want them in my inbox.
That’s it.
I guess I’m a little OCD in that way ^_^
