Finished Eva
OK, so I saw the rest of End of Evangellion.
That’s all I can really say. I suppose it made a bit more sense, but all that was the first half, episode 25 if you will.
The rest was like a, well, I don’t know what to say. I guess I could see it coming. There was always this mystical side to things, but the second half (episode 26) was a lot of talking and weird images. Mind you, I like the last 10 seconds a lot ^_^
It actually made up for the rest of it somehow.
All in all, I don’t know. I get this feeling that it was artsy for the sake of being artsy. I generally don’t go for that, much like the Utena movie. But then the last two episodes of Eva were like that anyway.
I just don’t know.
I might have to watch it a few more times, when I’m less tired.
Worth the watch, I think.
Damn I’m lost.

Um, yeah. That’s about it really.
My opinion of Eva is tainted a bit by really, really stupid people I’ve met who like Eva a *lot*. Scarily obsessive amounts. Or just scary people who can really ‘relate’ to the characters. Like Shinji.
I can’t relate to Shinji. He’s an incompetant putz.
My overall opinion of Eva is, as they say, lots of sound and fury, signifying nothing. It *looks* like it might be signifying something, but the more you think about it, the less is there. The only thing I think it signifies is that Hideaki Anno desperately needs therapy. Lots and lots of therapy.
Of course, I’ve only seen the movie once. It might be worth it to see it again. Watch the whole series again. But I don’t know if I can bring myself to it. There are enough people out there who like it that I don’t feel any obligation to do the same. Eva doesn’t need me…
