A Sickness
So now I’m pondering buying the re-issue Optimus Prime and Megatron toys from Takara.
I mean they look great! And they’re just like the originals; die-cast, rubber, plastic, the whole thing!
The only problem is that they’re about $80US/each!
Thing is, I’m sure in the long run I can afford it.
Hell, in the short run I can afford it, but should I?
See, the sickness I elude to is the fact that I’m a collector.
If I see something that’s REALLY cool, then I have to get it. But then, I also have to get the ENTIRE LINE to make it a complete set!
And that’s what costs me. I mean, look at my Gundam model collection. I have roughly 30-40 models, most of which haven’t been assembled yet, and the REAL reason why I bought them was to have them.
That’s it.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I like assembling models, and Gundam models are really cool, but when it comes right down to it, I’m just a collector.
And it can get expensive.
See, the second problem I’m having right now is that I’m getting bored with my music. And when I get into a new band I try to get everything that the band has ever released; good, bad, ugly, whatever. AND, if it’s an already established band, well, it get’s stupid.
For instance, I’m just starting to get into Rush, and how long have they been around? Beginning of time? That’s a lot of CDs!
But I really can’t help it.
It’s just what I do.
And the other problem is that I don’t get rid of anything, I just collect more and more CRAP!
And then I have to move that crap. And that crap gets all over my room/house/world and it takes all of my available space and then I have problems moving/sleeping/standing still and it becomes a real PAIN!
And it’s not just physical things. Lately my hard drives have been bubbling over with stuff that I download. One things leads to another leads to another leads to 280Gigs worth of USELESS CRAP!
But will I burn it off, delete it?
Nope, it just sits there, because it’s fast and convienent.
It’s a sickness, but honestly, it’s not so bad.
It does mean I get to have a lot of cool stuff ^_^
