Little Suzie Home Maker
That’s Tara’s new title for me 🙂
While working I also do a little house cleaning, get the laundry going, and start dinner so that it’s pretty much ready when Tara gets home.
Really what this helps do is get me out of the basement from time to time and see that sun thing.
And while I haven’t really fallen into my new routine just yet, it’s getting there. I did a rough timing on how long it takes me to do certain tasks, and I can easily fit them into the work day. As long as I don’t try to do everything at once.
See, at work, things take time to load, or people take their time to get back to you. So there’s daily down time that I can take advantage of. No, I can’t clean the house from top to bottom each day, but I can do a few little things to keep the house motoring along.
Dinners used to be a problem, and I’m sure they will be again at one point. It was always a little tricky to time things in the oven to make sure they’re done or almost done. This week has been pretty much one dish meals, so that really helps out. But that’s not going to work every day 😉
What I’m really trying to do is put these tasks into a physical schedule so that I’m reminded to get them done. Hasn’t worked this week, and probably not next, but I’m getting there.
I have a list, I follow the list. I rank things in terms of importance and daily, so that I don’t try to fit too much into a single day. Again, it’s not perfect, but it’s getting there.
But I kind of like this new role/responsibility. It allows for more time with Tara and Liam during the day in the long run. And that’s what counts really 😀
