MSG OD
I think I might be over doing the MSG intake.
I’ve been eating a lot of instant type noodles lately. They’re not the super cheap Mr. Noodle or the dangerously cheap Smack noodle, but some of the better brand type stuff. Including the affordable and good Kung-Fu noodle. But of course they all have MSG. And where I believe it’s important to be well preserved, I don’t think I should be THAT well preserved.
But then again I don’t eat a lot of other salty foods, nor do I add salt to my foods, so it’s possible that the amount of MSG that I’m taking in isn’t all that bad.
Oh, who am I kidding!
Of course it’s bad, but am I going to do anything about it?
Nope. Not yet anyway. I might just buy some veg bits and have them separately with the noodles.
I did e-mail one of the companies about the ‘nutritional’ information about their noodles, and they said that it varies depending on the noodle flavor. They also requested my address so that someone could contact me. I’m not sure if I want that, but what the hell. It would be sorta interesting to see what goes into this stuff.
Maybe I’m better off not knowing.

That’s just super disturbing…
Well, the noodle thing and all, but what I’m talking about is the Google search I just on mechaknight…
You come up first (good stuff!).
I come up second (good, and somewhat odd… thanks for sharing your coat tails! 🙂
If you do find out what’s in the noodles, post it. I’d like to see it.
I’d also like to know if they changed Mr.Noodle in the last 10 years, or if I’m just getting 10 year old Mr.Noodle that has outlived it’s shelf-life…
You think that’s odd, try Telus Monkey Gundam.Tried it again today and my site comes up first. Very odd.
And if you do an image search on Mechaknight, you’ll find an end-boss from Castlevania(?)!I swear, I didn’t know that was out there before I made the site ^_^
And no, I don’t think they’ve changed Mr. Noodles in the last 10 years, and I have a feeling that there is no ‘shelf-life’ to it.Eat at own risk….
Well my allegiance is, and has been since 1994 or so, to Smack Ramen. It’s so bad. I had a lovely ramen in the UK but I don’t remember what it was called. And I think ramen has a sell-by, not a best before. Or less-awful-before… anyway, off to bed.Not with ramen.B.
The ones I had in the UK had the oil packet (which you have to fish out of the boiling water) and was unbelievable. Of course I’m risking rickets eating like that. But there’s Vitamin C in whiskey, right? Right?
Sapporo Ichiban is good. I usually toss out the powder packet and use some other stock I have lying around, even if I miss out on the umami MSG ‘goodness’. Actual meat, scallions, an egg, some greens, and it almost qualifies as a meal.
I’m usually too lazy, or my eggs have gone off. But when I actually do it all, it’s pretty good.
Why more comments from you? Anyway, comments from me: don’t have hot chocolate after sushi. Just… don’t.
Oh, just moving the system over so I had to see if everything worked. It did…after a couple of minutes of not working.Official announcement and all that will eventually follow…
