Nothing in particular
I keep meaning to update the site, and I guess since everything it churning away at work, this is the best time to post.
The RAM issue seemed to be fixed by a motherboard update, but I’m still not 100% sure of this.
I still think OEM Express are a bunch of knobs for not replacing the RAM, but at least it’s working now.
Just picked up a big honking expensive video card, so now I can play HalfLife2 and Doom3.
Still not sure if the expense was worth it, but too late now ^_^
That, and it forced Jim’s hand to get an even more expensive card. Only because he couldn’t find the one I got for the same price.
Sucker!
He literally zigged when he should have zagged…I just realized that ^_^
HalfLife2 is a very fun game, and I so far I have to say that it’s better than Doom3. Mind you, each have their strong points that the other is completely lacking in. Well, maybe not completely.
Doom3 has AMAZING lighting effects, and I spent about 15 minutes just shooting this light just to see what it was doing.
HL2, has some very static light, kinda disappointing.
Doom3 has some great textures, but it looks kinda, and the best word I can think of is, ‘fake’.
HL2 went for some very realistic textures, and it shows. When you’re standing on the top of a building over looking the city, it looks like you’re over looking a city, not a computer rendered image.
But I think that HL2 wins for game play. And with the updated CounterStrike, it has the replay value wrapped up.
Other than that, we’ve had a rejuvenation of City of Heroes. It really started with Jim, especially after seeing The Incredibles.
But now we’ve developed a very nice team and I think we’re going to play the same night every week. Not too much to get bored, but enough to justify the price and have fun with friends.
I’ve also been putting off redoing the site. I have ideas in my head, but I keep getting distracted.
